PAUL A. YOUNG CHOCOLATES

IMG_0172If you read my blog regularly you will know how much I love Paul A. Young‘s chocolates. Every time I wander into Soho (most days), I seem to be magnetically drawn into his Wardour Street shop and that very thing happened at lunchtime today.

I decided to treat myself (it is Friday afterall) so I got a small box of 4 chocolates.  If you have never been in his shop before, the chocolates are displayed like jewels in a jewellery shop.  Its a visual wonderland.  Deciding how to narrow it down to just 4 chocolates was hard but these ones jumped out me…Banoffee Pie,  Bloody Mary,  Bakewell Tart and Scone, Jam & Clotted cream!

I wish I could say I savoured each one but in truth I scoffed them down. Well, I bit into them so I could see what was inside, and then scoffed them.  They tasted incredible.  My favourite out of the four was the Bakewell Tart. It tasted exactly like a bite of Bakewell Tart (funnily enough!) and just melted in my mouth.  The Bloody Mary one packed quite a punch. It was actually a bit spicy for me, but I am a weakling when it comes to spice. The Scone, Jam & Clotted Cream was wonderful… strawberry jam and clotted cream ganache encased in 55% Venezuelan milk chocolate and then rolled in scone mix.  Wow!  And the Banoffee Pie…salted banana caramel, layered with double cream white ganache and coated in 66% Ecuadorian chocolate. Incredible.

If you live in London and you haven’t been to Paul A. Young, shame on you!  GO NOW! You can see his stores here. If you’re visiting London anytime soon and you love chocolate, add it to your itinerary.

OK, enough gushing! Happy Friday everybody!

These look awesome. We just got a similar English chocolate shop here in Amsterdam, Hotel Chocolat, but this one looks so much fancier 🙂

That looks lovely! I’ll come and have a look next time I’m in Amsterdam. I should be over within the next few months. 🙂
