From February 2012
Last weekend, my brother Adam and his beautiful wife Sami, made a dinner for the family. Sami is 8 months pregnant and she wanted to get the family together for a night before the imminent arrival of my future nephew or niece.
I flew home to Glasgow for the dinner but unfortunately I was very ill with flu so I wasn’t much fun! However, it was lovely to see Adam and Sami so happy and settled in their new flat and it was lovely to have the family together again.

We started off with kalamata olives, sweet garlic cloves in oil, buffalo mozzarella, milano salami and serrano ham…
Then we had king prawns, avocado and apple in a marie rose sauce, served in an iceberg lettuce leaf…
Then we had a beautiful sausage casserole with mash…
And the meal was finished off with my mum’s delicious almond cake which was soaked in an orange and star anise syrup and topped with cream and strawberries.
It was such a lovely evening, I just wish I hadn’t been ill through it! But I love having the family together.
The next time I’m at home with the family, there will be one extra…..
