Ok, this is going to have to be a quick one because I’m in danger of sounding like Copita’s stalker! I’m beginning to get worried that whenever I walk through their door they’re thinking “Jesus…her again??”
I was in there on at lunchtime on Tuesday trying out their burger but I was back again on Thursday night, introducing my friend Damian to it. Damian has worked with restaurants for years so he knows his food.
While I was waiting for him to arrive, the chef James asked me if I would like a kebab. I immediately said yes. This is what I got…
My God this was good. Its made with succulent pork belly, apple, spiced carrots, kohlrabi and chervil and it tasted sublime.
I could have had another one but Damian turned up and we quickly ordered ‘don agustin’ jamon de bellota. Its £13.50 but so worth it. Its deliciously sweet and it quite literally melts in your mouth.
We also ordered one of my favourite dishes, the ajo blanco. This is a white gazpacho, made with almonds and garlic and served with beetroot and slices of red grape. Absolutely divine. I could eat this all day long.
We also got another favourite of mine…the pea, fresh cheese and truffle oil croquettes. These are incredible. As you cut through the crunchy crust, you’re hit with the beautiful smell of the truffle oil. The pea is fresh and light, the cheese adds a touch of richness and creaminess. I love these croquettes.
Then we ordered the Palamos red prawn and wild garlic tortilla. Again, this was delicious but I was beginning to feel pretty full by this point. The flavours were fantastic but if I had any criticism, I’d say it was a tad too oily for my liking. Just a little less oil in the pan would have made it perfect.
All in all, it was yet another wonderful meal at Copita. The next day, Damian sent me this email…“I’m still a little in awe of how good the food was at Copita. I am not sure I want to tell anyone else about it though so i can keep it a little secret gem! But I know there is no way I will be able to keep it to myself.”
I think that speaks for itself!
